A local boxing academy outlined its proposals for a health and wellbeing project when Epping Forest MP Dame Eleanor Laing visited on Friday.
Dennis and Dyer Boxing Academy, on the corner of Chigwell Lane and The Broadway, Debden, provides gym and boxing training facilities and now has plans to develop a health and wellbeing project.
The academy had backing from entrepreneur Reece Mennie, a successful property developer who also runs multiple businesses.
Director Marc Dennis said: "We deliver sessions to the community from the early age of four years old and also have clients training who are in their 60s.
"It’s a very diverse, safe place for people to train and we have multiple classes on offer throughout the week and at weekends.
"We have a huge vision for this community where we can implement structure, discipline and accountability.
"It was a pleasure to welcome Dame Eleanor and to discuss our goals and the ways we feel we can have a positive effect on the community."
Dame Eleanor said: "I was delighted to be invited to visit the boxing academy, to see their wonderful facilities and to learn about their exciting ideas which would help improve the health and wellbeing of local people who may not otherwise consider visiting such a place.
"I wish Dennis and Dyer Boxing Academy all the very best for the future and look forward to seeing how their plans progress."
