Epping Forest MP Dame Eleanor Laing has welcomed the Government's U-turn over exam grades saying that she had been concerned over the algorithm system.
Dame Eleanor said: "I have been in touch with a great many students and parents who were understandably dismayed when they received A-Level results that were so very different from what they had expected.
"The algorithm system worried me because every student is an individual and it simply isn't possible to standardise in the way Ofqual was trying to.
"I have every sympathy with students whose dreams appeared to be shattered so I am pleased that the Government has reverted to what seems to be a much fairer system.
"I wish every student well and hope that they will be able to make the best of their results whatever they are."
