Students from King Harold Academy in Waltham Abbey acted as guides when the Epping Forest District Museum in Waltham Abbey took part in the national Takeover Day event.
The students demonstrated the knowledge they had learned about various displays and items to give guided tours around the Sun Street venue.
Various exhibits were also explained to Upshire Primary School children who also took part in activities at the museum.
Year 7 King Harold Academy students Grace Cooper and Tilly Giddy showed Epping Forest MP Dame Eleanor Laing and Epping Forest District Council chairman councillor Helen Kane around the museum.
Dame Eleanor said: "It was a pleasure to visit the Epping Forest District Museum and be shown round by Grace and Tilly. Their knowledge of the displays was amazing and they would certainly make good museum guides or curators in the future!
"The museum is a fantastic place with so much of our local history recorded there, including many artefacts that have been recovered from around the Epping Forest area."
