Epping Forest MP Dame Eleanor Laing has had a further meeting with Chigwell Primary Academy as she continues to work with the school to bring about a new school building.
Dame Eleanor met with the headteacher and officers from Essex County Council and Reach 2 Academy Trust and is set to raise the issue with Ministers.
Dame Eleanor said: "I have been working with Reach 2 Academy Trust and the headteacher at Chigwell Primary Academy for several years to get them a new building.
"It’s a great school but the children deserve decent school buildings."
Dame Eleanor added: "I supported their efforts to put in place an agreement with a building contractor in order to secure funds for a new school building.
"Sadly, the timing of the Covid pandemic and its repercussions have made that project impossible, at least for the time being.
"I recognise the urgency of the situation. We need new school buildings now.
"I had a meeting last week with the Minister of State at the Department of Education and following our very positive discussion this morning (Friday) I will be meeting the Minister again next week.
"I am hopeful that the Department for Education will step in to resolve this unacceptable situation."
